Grzegorz Ekiert Joins GFNA as a Senior Fellow
Grzegorz Ekiert is Professor of Government and Chair of the Committee on Degrees in Social Studies. His teaching and research interests focus on comparative politics, regime change and democratization, civil society and social movements, and East European politics and societies. He is the author of "The State Against Society: Political Crises and Their Aftermath in East Central Europe" (Princeton University Press 1996), "Rebellious Civil Society: Popular Protest and Democratic Consolidation in Poland with Jan Kubik" (Michigan University Press 1999) and "Capitalism and Democracy in Central and Eastern Europe: Assessing the Legacy of Communist Rule", co-edited with Stephen Hanson (Cambridge University Press 2003). His papers have appeared in British Journal of Political Science, German Politics and Society, Studies in Comparative Communism, Research on Democracy and Society , Studia Polityczne, Studia Socjologiczne, Encuentro, East European Politics and Societies, Communist and Post-communist Studies, World Politics as well as in several edited volumes. He is also senior scholar at the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies and senior faculty associate at the Center for European Studies where he chairs the Workshop on East European Politics and is the editor of CES Working Paper Series on Central and Eastern Europe.
